Without question the name on everyone's lips these days when mentioning the most ground breaking cafe group in the UK today is London's Sacred Cafe. Starting off with their famous site on Carnaby St., they now have sites on Torrington Place and Kingly Court in the West End, Hornby St in Islington, and finally their frankly amazing site in Westfield Shopping Centre. They are a mecca for coffee ethusiasts, particularly those who are used to the Antipideon coffee style (and standards!)
It's no surprise then that the vision and drive from this comes from their Kiwi owners: Tubbs Wangasekera and Matt Clarke.
Here at Darlington's we have a couple of tame Kiwis of our own, Dave and Dan and about a year ago they met with Matt and Tubbs to create the Sacred Blend, blended and roasted to reflect the values of a great New Zealand house roast. It's proudly packaged with the silver fern emblassoned on the front, and it's already got a fearsome reputation as one of the very best around. Like everything in coffee though, the blend is only part of what makes their coffee so brilliant. They have the very best machines - the La Marzoccos, under the watchful eye of Nic and our service department; finally, and most importantly, the Sacred team of baristas (with Dan's training as support) are at the end of the chain ready with a perfect flat white.
